After reading The Cathedral and the Bazaar, I was excited to immerse myself fully in open-source communities. I searched for interesting open-source projects to contribute to that align with my interests. That’s how I found MindsDB (YC 20)! I participated in Hacktoberfest, where I integrated spaCy to their platform. This new feature allows users to perform NLP batch predictions on operational data from databases using customized SQL queries. Eventually, I became a winner. That experience demonstrates my strong coding skills, which will be helpful in developing functional prototypes in projects in graduate courses. I made meaningful connections with competitive and intelligent people worldwide, which inspired me. That is something I believe is more fruitful than any prizes
